The current Internet crisis - SPAM, Worms, Viruses It want to respond to your email messages as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, some of your email is not getting through to me. Some of it gets lost in the thousands of SPAM messages I receive every day. Some legitimate email messages contain a virus and are rejected by my filters or my Internet Service Provider's filters. Whatever the reason, a few message are not reaching me and I have no way to let you know that you didn't get through. And.... one lost message is one too many! To improve that situation, I am letting most of the email messages get through to my computer and I'm filtering them locally. I use two filters locally: Trend Micro's "PC-cillin" and "Cloudmark," peer driven anti-spam system. "Cloudmark" is the real anti-spam workhorse. On average, I get over 2000 spam messages each day. "Cloudmark" receives all messages and sends them to a "junk" folder. From there, "Cloudmark" determines the final destination of the message. The choices are my "In box," the "junk" folder, and the "spam" folder. Most messages are sent to the "spam" folder because several people in the "Cloudmark" network have marked a particular message as spam. Once a message, address, or other criteria is identified as spam, it stays that way unless someone in the network unblocks it. Suspicious messages stay in the "junk" folder. Of the 2000+ spam emails, 40 or 50 stay in the "junk" folder and I scan the "junk" folder looking for good email. I always find a few. If you don't receive a reply from me within a reasonable time, please send your message again. It could take me a few days to respond due to the high volume of questions coming in at times, but I try to answer all questions. Make sure you put something in the "subject" line that is germane to the question you're asking. I spot ham radio lingo fast. I might miss something more general. (.... just a hint) I want to provide the best service possible.
