600 Watt Power Rating*
The power rating is 600 watts, PEP, CW/SSB on all bands covered except 10 meters. The power limit is 400 watts, PEP, CW/SSB on 10 meters.
New, smaller Matching Transformer and Line Isolator
The new, low profile parts provide stealth and portability while maintaining the performance level of the standard-size versions.
#16 Hard-drawn wire
The standard LP model is made with #16 wire. Custom-built versions are available with different wire types at a slightly higher price.
Standard Vertical Radiator
The Vertical Radiators™ for all CAROLINA WINDOMS are the same in both the standard models and the LP versions.
Optimized for low height installation
All LP antennas are optimized for low support heights. Since these antennas will be most popular as portable, emergency, and hidden antennas, I decided to optimize the matching for a support height of 25' to 35'. Installing the antenna at greater heights will improve radiation performance, but the SWR will increase slightly when the antenna is supported higher in the air. The performance improvement is more than worth the change in SWR. Support the antenna as high as possible.

* 600 watt power assumes common CW and SSB duty-cycles. Do not use this antenna on AM, RTTY or high duty-cycle digital modes.
PSK-31: It has not been determined, at this time, what the maximum power will be. In normal operation, 150 to 200 watts should be possible because most operators are not long-winded and have clean signals. However, maximum power will depend on your installation and how long your transmitter is on. Overheating the components in the matching transformer and Line Isolator will deteriorate your IMD. As I gain more experience with PSK-31, I'll have more definitive information on power limits.
