Jim's Note

May 2007

I'm going to keep this short. Check the "Bulletin Board" for all the latest news.

Here is a quick update. Our catalog for 2007 is still available, on line, and by mail. The prices have been removed from the on-line version and are not correct in the hard copy. Simply put, copper and other metal prices, ferrites, transportation costs, petroleum products, etc. have all contributed to significant price increases. I'm sure you've noticed this everywhere. I will maintain a price list in this site and keep it as up-to-date as possible, but it will probably lag behind at times. All that said, I am still try to provide the lowest prices for good quality products. I could sell junk cheaper, but I still hold to the ideal that "if I wouldn't use it at W4THU, I won't sell it to you." now available and it features several new items. I've added the new LDG automatic tuner line which is a perfect match (pun intended) for our CAROLINA WINDOMS and SuperLoops. Especially exciting is the new LDG 1000 watt automatic tuner. You will also find our new LP series of Baluns, Line Isolators and antennas. Our "LP" (Low Profile) series of antennas and Line Isolators enjoys excellent popularity. The matching transformers, baluns and Line Isolators are about 1/4 the size of the familiar B1-2K and T-4.

Big News! We are developing a dealer network and hope to have our product line in ham radio stores and at hamfest, soon. The goal is to be fully represented by Dayton HamVention time in 2008. This will let us concentrate more on developing new products and with a dealer network, you'll enjoy better service. Why the change? Simply put, we are into overload. It's getting harder and harder to keep up with the demand when we spend most of our time on the telephone or answering email. I am going to encourage you to use dealers who distribute our products, but rest assured that the RADIO WORKS will still be here to meet your needs.

The CAROLINA WINDOM Beams have been renamed to CAROLINA WINDOM Short. For example, the CAROLINA WINDOM Beam 80 is now call a CAROLINA WINDOM Short 80. This change was made to reduce confusion. The beam effect takes place on the middle and top bands covered by the antenna. More important to most folks is the way the antenna is folded up so that it requires a shorter space to install it. Thus, it has a new name - CAROLINA WINDOM Short.

Speaking of the 2007 (really, it's Catalog 2006a) General Catalog, in the Web version, I've made a special effort to reduce the file sizes while maintaining the highest practical print quality. The catalog is divided into product groups for easy downloading. With the 2007 General Catalog available in PDF (Acrobat) format on this Web site, you can have a copy of our catalog immediately while you're waiting for the postal service to deliver your hard copy.

There is so much more and, I could go on and on, but instead of me telling you what's happening, why don't you see for yourself. Click over to the new 2007General Catalog and look around.

As always, I want to thank all of your who have called or written with comments and kind words about what we are doing here at the RADIO WORKS. It's folks like you that make the RADIO WORKS what it has become and what is today. We couldn't do it without you.

For now, 73, have fun, and stay tuned,

Jim, W4THU
